IRAQ: WAR, TERROR AND WESTERN COMPLICITY

By Elizabeth Kendall, chief writer and researcher of the
Commission on Religious Liberty of the World Evanvelical Alliance

In February 2007 Abu Omar Al-Baghdadi, al-Qaeda's appointed head of
the 'Islamic State of Iraq', released an audio recording in which
he threatened coalition forces ('Crusaders') and local Eastern
Christians ('Byzantines'). He railed, 'We are not afraid of your
coalitions . . . We have drunk blood [in the past] and we find no
[blood] sweeter than that of the Byzantines [Christians] . . .
Roast their flesh with car bombs, cut off their supply lines with
[explosive] charges and tear out their hearts with sniper fire . .
. be careful not to lay down your weapons before the war is over .
. . We are not fighting out of nationalism, but with the aim of
making Allah's word supreme.' (Middle East Media Research Institute
(MEMRI), report no. 1454, 7 Feb 2007) These are not idle threats.
The aim is nothing less than total ethnic and religious genocide.

Islamic terror organisations in Iraq use various media, especially
the Internet, to spread and popularise their message and recruit
militants. Perhaps the only thing more shocking than their hatred,
threats and violence is Western Internet Service Providers (ISPs)
hosting their websites. For example, one website associated with al-
Qaeda's Islamic State of Iraq (quoted above) is hosted by an ISP
based in Texas, USA. (For more details, see the MEMRI link below.)
On 30 September, two Armenian Christian brothers, Ebrahim Sahak
Sarkis (70) and Owanis Sarkis (64) were barbarically murdered,
mutilated and dismembered in their home in Baghdad's al-Habibiya
district. Western ISPs hosting Islamist websites should be charged
with complicity in terror.

Security has disintegrated in southern (Arab Shiite) and central
(Arab Sunni) Iraq. Christians, most of whom are ethnic Assyrians
(Iraq's indigenous people), have fled from there into northern
(Kurdish Sunni) Iraq, particularly to the historic Assyrian
heartland, the Nineveh plains. But Christians are not the only ones
fleeing north. The US surge has forced numerous al-Qaeda-linked
militants to abandon their safe-houses in Baghdad, Diyala, Anbar
and other areas in central Iraq and also flee north to Nineveh
Province. Mosul, the province's capital, has become an al-Qaeda
hub.

On Saturday 13 October, two Syrian Catholic priests from Mosul's
Hay al-Thawra neighborhood, Father Pius Affas (60) and Father Mazen
Ishoa (35, ordained on 1 September) were kidnapped as they
travelled to a church in nearby al-Faisaliya. Compass Direct (CD)
reports that Fr Affas' congregation had been receiving threats from
a group named Jihad and Tawhid demanding that they abandon their
church. CD reports Syrian Catholic Archbishop Basile Georges
Casmoussa has spoken by telephone with the priests' captors who are
demanding $1 million ransom. However, paying ransom does not
guarantee safety. A year ago, Syrian Orthodox priest Boulos
Iskander was found murdered in a northern suburb of Mosul after his
family had paid a $40,000 ransom. Bishop Andreas Abouna requests
through 'Aid to the Church in Need' that we 'pray for Fr Pius and
Fr Mazen and also for those who kidnapped them'.

* WEA's IDOP 2007 website <http://www.idop.org/> includes a 'focal
point' on Iraq.

PLEASE PRAY SPECIFICALLY FOR -

* the safe return of Father Pius Affas and Father Mazen Ishoa.
'Rise up and help us; redeem us because of your unfailing love.'
(Psalm 44:26 NIV)

* the criminals and militants holding Father Pius and Father Mazen
hostage; may God who is rich in mercy open their eyes and
transform their hearts (Ephesians 2:4,5).

* God to intervene in Iraq for his people's sake, disrupting
terror networks, cutting links to terror sponsors, obstructing
channels of arms, funds and assistance; sowing confusion and
dissension in the ranks. 'Let the wicked fall into their own
nets, while [God's children] pass by in safety.' (Psalm 141:10)

* God to preserve, mature and sanctify a Christian remnant in Iraq
to fulfil his promises in Psalm 87:4 & Isaiah 19:23-25; may all
Iraqi Christians be growing in spiritual wisdom, understanding,
trust, faith, prayerfulness and Christian unity across ethnic
and denominational lines.

'So may all your enemies perish, O Lord! But may they who love you
be like the sun when it rises in its strength.' (From the Song of
Deborah, Judges 5:31 NIV)

Bill Keller Speaks on Islam and Is Attacked By Islamic Fundamentalist Group

Telvision evangelist boldly proclaims his disagreement with the religion of Islam. CAIR an American based Muslim organization successfully sabotaged his show by putting pressure on Florida CBS tv station. Here is what Keller had to say about Islam. For some it is hate speech but there is no incitement to hate anyone whatsoever. This case proves how weak willed the American media is when it comes to pressure from Islamic groups who want to silence by force all different opinions from their own. And how prejudiced against Christians who make their view public without apologizing for it. Islam does not know or recognize freedom of speech or freedom of religion. Their goal obviously is to impose the same islamic standards to the US and the West.

ACLU Defends Devil Worshipers

It only makes sense that the ACLU would defend the Wiccans. Both organization serve the same master.

This is old news but I am re-posting it. I had to remove the posting from my archive because Yahoo! News usually "kill" the link to their news after a few days. These links take you to web sites taht don't do that and keep the pages up and running.

Here is the story in a conservative-Christain web site and in Fox News.

Why Does America Support a Fanatical Kingdom of Islamists?

The kingdom in question is Saudi Arabia. Why is America supporting these people? (Or rather thier royal government.) Money, and ill-conceived policies are the most likely answers. Saudi's can come to America and not only do business but express their Islamic religious views. If you want to bring your Bible visiting their country however, or just wear a cross on your necklace - you will get in trouble with their authorities. Yet another example that politics and truth are two categories far removed from each other, as far as upholdig freedom of religion in the international arena by the US is concerned.

European Blogger Cannot Support a Lukewarm Church Position on Islam

Interesting theological and political view on why Chrisitanity is not attractive to this European blogger. A quote from his article The Outcome of Two Cultural Revolutions: While China Turns Christian, Europe Turns Muslim:

My main problem with wholeheartedly supporting the Church is that it is, at
best, lukewarm in defending the West by confronting Islam. If there is such a
thing as evil then Islam is evil. If the Church cannot recognize that, then what
good is it? Give me some determined and armed atheists who fight for their
children’s freedom rather then some lukewarm Christians who engage in dialogue
with Muslims.

US Army Ivestigates Christian Servicemen for Their Faith

Separation of church and state or separation of man and faith? Freedom of religion has been brutally violated in American military. This is intolerable “probing” into the faith of Christian believers in the US Army, whose “ethics violation” is that they are believers in Jesus Christ and share their faith without remorse. While there is no problem accepting homosexuals in the army it is evidently morally reprehensible conduct to be a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Read the report here in San Francisco online newspaper. Read more about this “serious investigation” here, another San Franciscan newspaper.

Boo! People in uniform said that they favor an evangelical Christian organization! We must deal away with this unethical and immoral behavior in the army! How can you believe in Christ and share your faith with other members of the military!? You leave your faith at the gate of the barracks, before you enter!

This is a true separation of “church and state”. An army officer is supposed to say good things only about gays, lesbians, feminists, atheists, Wiccans, and Islamic fundamentalists. Is there anything more horrible than having a Christian say that they are such in the military?! Let’s have the homosexuals and the feminists and the PETA animal lovers/terrorists define our defense strategy and military moral codes. (Note: Not exactly PETA but a smilar radical "animal rights" organziation.)

Sarcasm aside—it is a sad day for the US and its Army when the nation known as the bulwark of freedom of religion, and mainly so because of its Christian roots, begins to persecute Christians for their expression of faith.

Michelle Malkin vs. Bill O'Reilly on Freedom of Speech vs. Muslims' Right to Dominate in America

Michelle Malkin is spot on on this issue. Mr. O'Reilly was way out of line defending the Muslim cause at the expense of free speech and by supporting the personal injustice done to Mr. Shmulevich. Watch the video segment (click the link below).

Letter of feedback to the Factor:

Mr. O’Reilly,

You were wrong on the debate with Michelle about Shmulevich. Wrong like in VERY WRONG. Michelle was spot on. The so called “hate crimes laws” are a legalese for putting limits on the freedom of speech and freedom of thought. Mr. Shmulevich did not hurt anybody. He expressed his emotion by showing how he feels about a book considered “holy” by certain group of people. This case yet again reveals the double standard and supports the case of an obvious Islamic “soft” take-over strategy against the West and America by impertinent insistence on their “rights” and abusing the legal system here. Even freedom of religion includes the right to disagree with someone else’s religious belief and criticize it. Mr. Shmulevich did just that. This case is yet another concession given to Islamist imperialism right on American soil. Mr. Shmulevich is a victim of a gross injustice and that injustice, fueled by Islamist propaganda, chips away from American freedom.

I didn’t think I’d write to you again but your reaction on this case, defending the Muslims' unjust and unjustified cause, angered me. But, of course, I don’t hate you.

Web, reality TV help make porn pervasive

Freedom of speech deprived of truth, virtue and godly impetus turns into a destructive dissimination of immorality and perversion. Case in point -- the new freedom of expression through the democratization of media by technology. I've posted here the whole article with its copyright notice since the provider usually takes these articles off and just supplying a link to their web site would not lead you to the article itself in just a few days. I do not agree with the slant of the article in terms of the conclusions and sources offered. However, I find it informative and the reader can make their own conclusions of how prevasive the free expression of sinful human nature has become.

Web, reality TV help make porn pervasive By MARTHA IRVINE, AP National Writer -- Sun Jun 3, 5:12 PM ET
Porn used to be relegated to a video hidden in the bottom drawer, or a magazine under the mattress. Today, it's part of everyday life.
Hugh Hefner's girlfriends have become TV's "girls next door." Porn stars have MySpace pages and do voiceovers for video games. And while "porn on demand" is standard for hotel TVs and upgraded cable packages, it's even easier to find it with a few clicks on the computer.
In April, more than a third of the U.S. Internet audience visited sites that fit into the online "adult" category, according to comScore Media Metrix.
So the message is clear: In today's world, sex doesn't just sell. The pervasiveness of porn has made sexiness — from subtle to raunchy — a much-sought-after attribute online, at school and even at work.
Many agree that the trend has had a particularly strong influence on young women — in some cases, taking shape as an unapologetic embracing of sexuality and exhibitionism.
"I am one of those girls," says Holly Eglinton, a 31-year-old Canadian who recently won a talent search competition to appear as an unclothed newscaster on the Internet's "Naked News." She auditioned after meeting a producer for the show on a social networking site where she's posted provocative photos of herself — an increasingly common practice.
For Eglinton, taking off her clothes for an Internet audience was freeing, fun and a little rebellious.
"It's something that sort of suits my personality," she says. "I'm kind of an extrovert and a bit of a camera hog, a poser."
It's a prevalent sentiment in our look-at-me culture. But many wonder if it really is empowering, especially for younger women and girls who try to emulate what's already on the Web.
Too often, educators and health professionals say, the results are cases of "Girls Gone Wild" — gone wild.
Michael Simon, a therapist and high school counselor in the San Francisco Bay area, has seen an increasing number of girls and young women in his private practice after episodes in which they undressed or masturbated in front of a Web cam for people they met online.
"Instead of pornography or performative sexuality being one choice among many ways of being sexual, it's essentially become the standard of sexiness," says Simon. "It's also the standard by which a man or woman is a prude, depending on how much they embrace that kind of sexuality."
Yvonne K. Fulbright, a sexologist and author who co-hosts the "Sex Files" program on Sirius satellite radio, also has seen the shift in attitude.
She's posted messages on Craigslist looking for people who want to comment on various topics for the show — and, instead, often receives responses from young women who send descriptions of their breast and waist sizes.
"They're under the impression that they can be the next big thing," Fulbright says. "Unfortunately, for a lot of females that means taking off your clothes and being sexual.
"It's a really warped sense of what it means to be sexy."
Indeed, there was a time when dancing for the masses in barely there outfits was the realm of music video stars and strippers. Then the Internet and reality TV came along, providing new platforms for young women to flaunt it for a shot at fame.
In one hit prime-time series, for instance, eager young contestants perform soft-core porn dance routines in hopes of becoming the next member of The Pussycat Dolls singing group.
The fascination with being "hot" also has made its way into the workplace, where confidence is often conveyed in the way one looks and dresses.
"I would say that, in the world of Washington, D.C., power brokers, it's important to be sexy, but in a more sophisticated, muted way," says Charles Small, a 25-year-old young professional who works in the nation's capital. That's in contrast, he says, to cities such as Los Angeles and Miami, "where overt sexiness is more the status quo."
Some employers — taken aback by the trend — have responded by setting tougher dress codes. Many school administrators have done the same.
"As a high school teacher, I see 14-year-old girls dressing in a way that makes me shake my head. Where do they get that?" asks Dennis Brown, an educator and parent in Huntley, Ill., outside Chicago.
Recently, he says his own 5-year-old daughter proclaimed, "Daddy, I look fat."
"And I thought, 'Oh my gosh, here we go,'" he says. "Now I have to start deconstructing that mind-set."
It's a big topic of discussion among researchers. A 2007 report from the American Psychological Association compiled the findings of myriad studies, showing that the sexualization of young women and girls, in particular, can hurt them in many ways. Problems can include anything from low-self esteem and eating disorders to depression and anxiety.
Simon, the California therapist, has seen those symptoms in several of his young female patients.
While boys tend to seek out porn for their own sexual pleasure, he sees a sexual disconnect with girls who exhibit provocative behavior they're not ready for — from undressing online to performing oral sex on boys.
"It doesn't have anything to do with their sexual pleasure," says Simon. "It has to do with pleasing somebody else — the grasping for attention.
"As a parent, it makes me want to cry."
And while they tell him they feel empowered, too often, he says they end up getting pegged as "sluts."
Julie Albright, a sociologist at the University of Southern California, has noted that dynamic in her research. She's working on a book about "players," men who juggle more than one sex partner and earn a title of esteem for behavior that much of society still frowns upon for women.
"If you 'act like a man,' in that sense, you're trying to grab hold of that same kind of power, that same kind of lifestyle — and claim male privilege," Albright says.
"The problem is, you're still female and it's still a man's world."
Anna Stanley, a 25-year-old in Madison, Wis., knows all about that double standard. She also wonders if she and her peers place too much importance on the power of sexiness.
"It seems like it stems out of the 'Girl Power' thing of the '90s gone awry — men objectify us, so let's objectify ourselves and get something out of it. It's not really progress," she says. "But it's something I have mixed feelings about — because sometimes I do it, too.
"Sometimes you do dress up to get noticed and attention, and you do feel more confident when you do that."
She wishes there was more focus on helping women develop a healthy sense of their own sexuality.
Missy Suicide — founder of the "Suicide Girls" pinup Web site — couldn't agree more.
"I think that women shouldn't be afraid of their sexuality. It's a part of who we are. You shouldn't be embarrassed and ashamed of your body and yourself," says the 29-year-old entrepreneur, who lives in Los Angeles. But, she says, it shouldn't be the sole focus.
She and the women on her site are known for challenging the stereotypes of beauty, with their tattoos and piercings and varying body types.
"I get messages from girls all the time saying they never felt beautiful before because they never saw girls like themselves in magazines or on TV. Then they saw a girl like them on 'Suicide Girls,'" she says of the site, an online community that attracts a worldwide audience of both admirers and women who want to become nude pinups.
Victoria Sinclair, the lead anchor on "Naked News," also sees herself as a role model. She left a job in the corporate world to join the show as lead anchor in 1999 — and never looked back.
"Sometimes, there are moments when I think, 'Oh my goodness what am I doing?'" says Sinclair, who recently turned 40. "But I'm really OK with it."
She says it works for her because she has control over what she does on the show and has been allowed to age gracefully, without plastic surgery.
Still, many skeptics remain.
"To be sure, it can make you feel powerful to know that you are arousing strong feelings in other people, that you have their attention and admiration," says Eileen Zurbriggen, a psychologist at the University of California, Santa Cruz, who helped compile the APA report.
"This is the same sense of power experienced by charismatic rock stars and politicians. But politicians also wield other kinds of power. They can make actual changes to the legal, economic, and geopolitical landscapes — changes that have far-ranging impacts.
"Women," she says, "might be better off developing other sources of power."

AFGHANISTAN: ISLAMIC FUNDAMENTALISTS CONTROL THROUGH TERROR -----------------------------------------------------------
One day Jesus was teaching and healing, and as he looked outover the crowds he felt great compassion for the harassed, helpless and directionless masses. So he instructed hisdisciples to ask the Lord to send out more workers/ servants(see Matthew 9:35-38).
Up to 17,000 Korean Christians serve the Lord abroad in this way, most in war-torn, volatile, hostile and 'restricted access'nations. There are around 100 South Korean Christians from adozen humanitarian organisations and churches presently engagedin voluntary work in war-torn Afghanistan. Since 2002, some 400-500 South Koreans have visited Afghanistan every year in responseto the Lord's sending. They do voluntary work in health, education, agriculture, information technology and other fieldsfor the benefit of the people.
In early August 2006, Korean Christian professionals with theInstitute of Asian Culture and Development (IACD <http://www/.iacd.or.kr>, a Seoul-based Christian humanitarian-aid group thathas run medical clinics in Afghanistan since January 2002) weresuddenly deported. The IACD had organised a three-day 'PeaceFestival' to celebrate five years of Korean aid work inAfghanistan. The festival was to include a medical conference,a round-table on reconstruction and two soccer games at Kabul'sOlympic Stadium between Afghanistan's national team and aKorean team. The group's director, Kang Sung Han, said the aimof the festival was to give ordinary Koreans and Afghanis theopportunity to interact and have fun. But when Muslim clericsprotested, the festival was cancelled and the Koreans weredeported, citing security concerns. According to Radio FreeEurope/ Radio Liberty, while the clerics complained that theKoreans were actively proselytising, a spokesman for the chiefof the Afghan National Police said there was absolutely noevidence to support that, adding that if there had been anyevidence then the police would have 'put them in jail accordingto the law'. In order to maintain their hold over the people, the clerics are depriving the people of a future.
On Thursday 19 July 2007, Taliban militants in Ghazni Provincekidnapped 23 South Korean Christians who were in Afghanistandoing medical and humanitarian volunteer work. The Koreans, most of whom are nurses, are members of the Presbyterian'Saemmul Church' in Bundang near Seoul. They were en route tovisit a kindergarten in Kandahar which serves some 100destitute children and war orphans when they were ambushed andkidnapped. The Taliban is threatening to kill the hostagesunless South Korea withdraws its forces (which are non-combatant,engaged only in reconstruction) and the Afghan governmentreleases the 23 Taliban prisoners held in Ghazni Province. Thisis the largest contingent the Taliban has ever captured.Because the group is so large the Taliban might drag thenegotiations along, releasing one hostage (bargaining chip) ata time. They might also feel that because there are so many, they can afford to kill a few to increase the pressure on thetwo governments. On 24 July, Afghani villagers in Ghaznidemonstrated peacefully in the streets for the release of theKorean hostages. Once again, Islamic fundamentalists arerobbing the people and exerting control through repression andterror.
South Korea has now banned its citizens from travelling toAfghanistan, one of the neediest places on earth.
PLEASE PRAY SPECIFICALLY FOR:
* God to give the Korean Christian hostages all the grace, strength, endurance, courage and wisdom they need to bringblessings to Afghanis and honour and glory to the Lord in theirnew circumstances, which are doubtless exceedingly unpleasant.
* God to protect all those who have left home and family, andsacrificed security and comfort to go into Afghanistan in orderto help and serve traumatised, needy Afghanis; and may the Lordin his mercy deliver the Korean believers to safety.
* the Holy Spirit of God to draw into humble dependent (or evenjust desperate) prayerfulness, all those who are in Afghanistanto further freedom and civilisation for the benefit of the people(God's creation). May they learn dependence, and rejoice in thefaithfulness of the Lord our deliverer. (Prayer - Psalm 140:6-8).
* the Taliban, al Qaeda, and all other enemies of civilisation inAfghanistan to be profoundly defeated. Pray that the 'sword ofGod will strike them'. (Isaiah 31:8 NLT)

SUMMARY TO USE IN BULLETINS UNABLE TO RUN THE WHOLE ARTICLE -----------------------------------------------------------
AFGHANISTAN: ISLAMIC FUNDAMENTALISTS CONTROL THROUGH TERROR
Islamic fundamentalists exert control through threats and terror. If Afghanis are to have a future that includes health, education, progress, prosperity, liberty and joy, then these Islamic fundamentalists must be profoundly defeated. The Taliban are holding 23 Korean Christian volunteer workers as hostages in Ghazni Province, and are threatening to kill them if their demands are not met. Because they have so many 'bargaining chips', the Taliban might draw out the negotiations and release the hostages slowly; they also might kill a few to increase the pressure. The Koreans, who come from the Presbyterian 'Saemmul Church' in Bundang near Seoul, are in a desperate situation. May God have mercy on them, and may 'the sword of the Lord' deliver them, and Afghanistan, from the grip of Islamic fundamentalists.

Why Protect Dissimination of Perversion as Free Speech?

Update: July 31, 2007.
Yahoo! news have "killed" this link. The article is no longer available to the public at the likn pointed to in here. To find the article you can still use the link but it will take you to their "search" page, where you'll have to search their database to get to the piece. Good luck. BTW, I strongly disapprove of this policy but did not want to remove the post for those who might want to search for the article linked here.

Does the "freedom" to commit and show perverse acts upon children qualify as free speech? The ACLU and other so called "liberal" organizations will want you to think that. Freedom to be perverse in your own limited circle is one thing. However, to be involved in the "free speech" of dissimenating rape, incest, vile behavior on children is criminal by law, ciriminal by conscience. Shame on the ACLU and on the judge who upheld the right to be a child-molester and a pervert. Free speech is about freedom to live a decent, reasonable life. Freedom of speech has never been about condoning the low instincts of the human race. That's not freedom but the spread of tyranny. Irresponsible, despicable and criminal speech must not be protected but prosecuted.

ISLAMIC IMPERIALISM: SOMALIA, BOSNIA, KOSOVO

This article proves that totalitarian systems (Islam, Nazism, communism) do not only oppose each other to vie for power but also coopearte with each other in their oppressive purposes.

4. RL TREND - ISLAMIC IMPERIALISM: SOMALIA, BOSNIA, KOSOVO
**World Evangleical Alliance Religious Liberty News & Analysis**

Principal Researcher and Writer, Elizabeth Kendal

The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language defines imperialism as: "The policy of extending a nation's authority by territorial acquisitionor by the establishment of economic and political hegemony over othernations."

Islam is an imperialistic political system that employs a religiouscomponent for political and imperialistic gain. It is natural therefore thatIslamic reformation and revival should result in renewed zeal for Islamicimperialism. While Muslims as human beings are extremely varied, holdingbeliefs ranging from irreligious to indifference to secular to moderate toextremist and from liberal to fundamentalist, the agenda of orthodox,Quranic Islam is absolutely radical and imperialistic.

Islamic imperialism is advanced in myriad ways: through jihad and pro-Sharia Islamist political movements; economically and culturally through theOrganisation of Islamic Conference (OIC), the Arab League, the IslamicDevelopment Bank (IsDB), and vast oil profits. These profits are used strategically to disseminate Islamic ideology and advance Islamic politicsand culture, as well as to transform free nations (such as numerous Christian-majority African nations) and institutions (such as numerous Western universities) into submissive debtors.

For this annual trends posting I will focus on two regions where Islamic imperialist zeal and rhetoric rose to dangerous levels through 2006: the Horn of Africa, and the Balkans.

Bill O'Reilly and Tim Hardaway's Remarks

Here is a letter I wrote to Bill O'Reilly of the "The O'Reilly Factor" on the FOX News channel. It has to do with the way this otherwise staunch defender of freedom of expression budges to the liberal-progressive agenda. Mr. O'Reilly and a guest of his implied in the Factor that former pro basketball star Tim Hardaway had a sickness-type condition of thinking homophobic thoughts.

Unfortunately, Mr. Hardaway is not the best representative of the freedom of thought camp either. He heartily offered his apology for his anti-homosexual remarks (link takes you only to the search results in Google, so you don't have to visit a homosexual perversion web site unless you choose to.) However, the fact that Hardaway is a push-over only reveals that there is no true freedom of thought and speech in the US on certain issues. If one is to express their honest opinion of disapproval of the homosexual agenda they are threatened with left-wing and pro-homosexual paranoid propaganda. It would have been acutally quite amazing if Hardaway had stuck with his right to freedom of speech.

> Dear Mr. O’Reilly,

I appreciate your show and it indeed is a no spin zone. You do not let leftist and socialist agenda get by without making a point of their bigoted manner of approaching an argument or an opponent. I have respect for your moral and intellectual bravery to stand up to the mainstream “progressive liberalism” in this country. Their nonsense should be exposed for what it is – nonsense. And you do that well.

However, I think you made a serious mistake last night (Thursday, 2-15-2007). Your report and commentary, alongside that of the gentleman from the group that studies “hate and extremism,” regarding Mr. Hardaway’s remark on gays was off.

Mr. Hardaway has the right to freedom of thought and freedom of speech. He has the right to be homophobic and to not like gays. Even more so he has the right to think so and say so in public. This is a fundamental constitutional right in this country.

Mr. Hardaway finds gay behavior an imposing presence, were it in society and/or in his more private circles, and perhaps he has a reason. In the quote from him you showed, he clearly said that he does not like to have gay people in his locker room. He is absolutely right. Would you be comfortable with women staring at you while you’re changing your underwear? Why should gay men, of the conviction that other men are a sexual object to their “sexual preference,” should be allowed in the same locker room as those who are just athletes looking to change and relax in the privacy of the facility, and not to engage in flirtations or a more heated exchange? I find this concern of Mr. Hardaway’s very reasonable.

You and your guest went further in your denial of Mr. Hardaway’s right to his opinion. You even said something to the effect that he not only said this bad thing about gays and that he hates gays, but that he thinks that (the anti-homosexual attitude), that he carries it with him. What are you implying here? That he has no freedom of thought? That Mr. Hardaway is obliged to think only along the gay-rights agenda and to take a perversion and agree to it without being able to allow himself to entertain a different opinion? This type of self-censorship due to fear of law suits or of just plain becoming a target of the militant gay activism has already done substantial damage to the free thought in the US.

This suggestion of yours is scary because it proves the point of how far the leftist propaganda and bigotry have gone in this nation in changing the way people think, or are allowed to think. You are the no spin icon for hundreds of thousands, if not millions of Americans. If you agree with your guest who studies hate, that freedom of thought and freedom of speech are a “disorder” which has to be “treated,” the establishment of tyranny is only months away in the US. Shall we expect that free speech and dissent from the mainstream beliefs should be treated as a sickness to society and such people should be locked up in hospitals, until they are “healed” from their different world view?

I am sure you know that this is what the Nazis and the communists did to all who disagreed with their propaganda. In Russia and Eastern Europe people used to be locked in psychiatric wards for religious beliefs which were not “scientific” and out of line with the “party line” and the “socialist realism.” We will obviously soon see thought police established in America in order to tell us what we are not to hate and what we are to like if the ACLU and the gay-lobbyists and the socialist left have their way.

To forcefully impose acceptance of homosexuality as a standard that should be promoted and accepted uncritically is beyond what I imagined you would agree to. But obviously you have. At least to some extent. I understand that you come under a lot of pressure. But your lumping Mr. Hardaway with extremists and terrorists, implicit by your remarks and those of your guest, is reprehensible. Tim Hardaway has the right to express his personal and moral outrage with homosexuals and their behavior. This right is given him by the Constitution of the United States. And, obviously, by his own conscience.

It would be a prudent act for you to offer Mr. Hardaway your apologies for infringing on his right to freedom of thought, opinion and speech by comparing him with terrorists and extremists and by strongly implying that he must not be allowed to think the way he does.

Yet this is up to you to decide. I will not stop watching your show, because on many other issues I think you are right on. I’m sure this brings you a littlecomfort. I perceive you to be a man who stands for freedom and for what is right in the culture clash in the US. I encourage you to not change that.

Kind regards,
...

Pro-homosexual Legislature in US Congress Will Threaten Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Religion

I have posted the opening paragraphs of the article, the whole article is available here.

If this legislature passes the possiblities of banning free religious speech in America are paramount. If you would like to preach and teach that homosexuality and corss-dressing is a peversion which God hates you may be violating laws that protect homosexuals from hate-crimes. This legislature shows how the evangelical church is failing to affect the secular government in the United States, regardless of the significant involvement of the Christian Right in politics. Freedom must achieved in the spiritual realm in order to affect change on government. Free speech in America has already been threatened by self-censorship when the right of homosexuals to be overtly homosexual are in question. It has become publically unacceptable to even think of "same gender sexual attraction" as perversion, not to even speak of saying it publically. See my letter to Bill O'Reilly above.

Gay rights advances likely in Congress
By DAVID CRARY, AP National Writer2 hours, 45 minutes ago (Feb. 24,
2007)

Anti-gay bias has flared up in Hollywood and pro basketball recently, and soon the topic will be thrust dramatically into a new forum — a reshaped Congress likely to pass the first major federal gay-rights bills.

Wary conservative leaders, as well as gay-rights advocates, share a belief that at least two measures will win approval this year: a hate-crimes bill that would cover offenses motivated by anti-gay bias, and a measure that would outlaw workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation.

Also on the table — although with more doubtful prospects — will be a measure to be introduced Wednesday seeking repeal of the "don't ask, don't tell" policy that bans openly gay and lesbian Americans from serving in the military.

All three measures surfaced in previous sessions of Congress, at times winning significant bipartisan backing but always falling short of final passage. This year, with Democrats now in control and many Republicans likely to join in support, the hate-crimes and workplace bills are widely expected to prevail.

"With liberals in control, there's a good possibility they'll both pass," said Matt Barber, a policy director with the conservative group Concerned Women for America. "They're both dangerous to freedom of conscience, to religious liberties, to free speech."

If approved by Congress, the bills would head to the White House. Activists on both the left and right are unsure whether President Bush would sign or veto them.

Free Christian Speech Persecuted in North America

This piece reveals instances of legislature in the US and Canada which under the guise of limiting "hate crimes" in fact punishes people for free thought and free speech.

We remind the reader that freedom of religon does not exist without the fundamental freedom of speech, which includes the right to criticize your oponents religious beliefs and the right to convert others or change one's own beliefs.

I am posting this article the way it was emailed to me.

WHEN GRANDMAS GO TO JAIL FOR WITNESSING

February 7, 2007

By Janet Folger

Arrested for sharing the Gospel? An expected outcome in North Korea, China or any Muslim country on the globe. But in Pennsylvania? Yep. Arlene Elshinnawy, a 75-year-old grandmother of three, and Lynda Beckman, a 70-year-old grandmother of 10 (along with nine others), were arrested for sharing their faith on the public sidewalk in Philadelphia, Pa., USA. They faced 47 years (the rest of their lives) in jail for spreading the Gospel because of a Pennsylvania "hate crimes" law that is nearly identical to H.R. 254 – the "hate crimes" bill reintroduced in Congress and said to be on the "fast track" in the House Judiciary Committee. This is the same bill that previously passed both the House and Senate and was killed only because of Republican leadership opposition in conference – something we no longer have.

Don't believe hate crimes will silence your freedom of speech and freedom of religion? Think again.

Pastors in Pennsylvania are now seeking liability insurance to protect themselves from being prosecuted under the "hate speech" law. That's right. They are reacting to Pennsylvania's addition of "sexual orientation" to the state's hate crimes laws. Of particular concern was the expansion of the definition of "harassment" to include "harassment by communication" – which means one could be convicted based upon spoken words alone.

Their fear is a rational one. Hate crimes invariably lead to fines and jail time for those who "violate" them. Just ask Sweden's Pastor Ake Green. Green faced jail time for the content of his sermon. He read from Romans Chapter 1 – something that is no longer legal in Sweden.

The "hate crimes" – or more appropriately, "thought crimes" – bill is the single most dangerous bill in America. Along with its companion, the "Employment Non-Discrimination Act," or ENDA – "Thought Crimes for your Business"– is expected to pass this session of Congress. Bow to the homosexual agenda – endorse, embrace, subsidize and celebrate it – or go out of business. That's what it did to the largest and most respected adoption agency in Boston, Catholic Charities, who, by refusing to place vulnerable orphans in homosexual homes, was forced to close its doors. England's about to get a dose of the same.

But you don't speak out about homosexuality, you say? Think you're safe? Think again. Here are just a few examples I've highlighted my book, "The Criminalization of Christianity" where you'll find a whole lot more.

Protest Islam? That's a hate crime!

Maybe it had something to do with Sept. 11. Maybe it had something to do with the beheadings. Maybe it had something to do with what is written in the Quran. But Canadian Pastor Mark Harding doesn't believe the Muslim religion is one of peace. So when his local high school started handing out copies of the Quran and announced a policy of setting aside a room for Muslim students to pray during school hours, Pastor Harding protested. Didn't think it was a good idea – especially since Christian, Jewish and Buddhist kids weren't afforded the same opportunity.

After losing an appeal to Canada's Supreme Court Oct. 17, 2002, Harding was said to have "willfully promoted hatred" in violation of Canadian law that had just passed six months earlier. He was then forced to undergo two years probation and 340 hours of "community service" at the Islamic Society of North America in Mississauga, Ontario.

So, for the "crime" of handing out leaflets protesting a high school's pro-Muslim policy, Pastor Harding was ordered to do community service to further the very religion he morally opposed.

Harding, an evangelical Protestant, says his evangelism is motivated by love for the Muslim people (rather than hate). In fact, in a phone call used as "evidence" against him in the trial, Harding verbalizes that he loves them. He says he wants them to go to heaven. Yet he received more than 3,000 hate-filled calls – many of them death threats. Some motioned by running their finger across their neck from ear to ear. Upon entering court for his trial, he required police protection from a large crowd of Muslims who were chanting, "Infidels, you will burn in hell." Of course, that speech is loving.

Harding said, "I had a call from someone who said they were from (Louis) Farrakhan's (Nation of Islam) group, and they were going to break my legs." Adding, "Another caller said he would rip out my testicles." Can't you just feel the love?

But instead of just "stuffing envelopes" to promote the Muslim faith, his punishment included Islam indoctrination under the direction of Mohammad Ashraf, the general secretary of the Islam center. Under penalty of going to jail, Harding was forced to undergo Islamic "re-education," which included reading a book called "Towards Understanding Islam," by Sayyid Abul A'la Maududi, which provided a description of one who does not follow Islam, referred to as an infidel or a "kafir":

"Such a man ... will spread confusion and disorder on the earth," the book says. "He will, without the least compunction, shed blood, violate other men's rights, be cruel to them, and create disorder and destruction in the world. His perverted thoughts and ambitions, his blurred vision and disturbed scale of values, and his evil-spelling activities would make life bitter for him and for all around him."

"It was obvious that he intended to make sure I understood that I was a kafir," said Harding, who was forbidden from voicing any objections or saying anything negative about Islam or its prophet, Muhammad.

Harding, who had been prevented from speaking publicly about his case under a gag order, told WorldNetDaily: "He said he was my supervisor, and if I didn't follow what he said, he would send me back to jail."

Harding, 49, has suffered four heart attacks since 1997 and is unable to work in his cabinet-making trade because of his poor health. Yet he must travel three-hours to the Islamic Society of North America to complete his sentence. His attorney has entered a plea based on humanitarian grounds, due to her client's poor health, to allow him to complete his sentence at an Islam Center closer to his home. Isn't that nice? Perhaps, if he's lucky, he can be indoctrinated closer to home.

And speaking of indoctrination, thanks to the city council in Hamtramck, that shrill siren from Muslim mosques is now blasted five times a day just outside of Detroit. Whether your child is sleeping or you're on an important call, for about 15 minutes every day it's going to sound like a tornado drill outside your suburban Detroit home or business beginning at 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. so the Muslims will know when to pray. But if you were to ring church bells – which typically play music for two minutes once a week – in a Muslim country, you could be shot.

California 'hate crimes' law – pro-lifers automatic suspects

"Hate crimes" bill, SB 1234, was signed into law by California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger Sept. 22, 2004. SB 1234 creates a new hate-crime training requirement for law enforcement called "multimission criminal extremism." In addition to those categories already considered for special punishment under the term "hate crimes," the new multimission criminal extremism training adds "anti-reproductive-rights crimes."

That means if you are pro-life, you are an automatic suspect, and law enforcement is being specially trained on how to handle you. I wonder what that special "multimission criminal extremism" trains officers to look for. "Anti-reproductive-rights" T-shirts? Those who've passed "anti-reproductive rights" laws? Those who've debated the "anti-reproductive-rights" position? If I lived in California, I have a feeling my picture would be found at the local post office. If you think killing children is wrong, they're training people against you, too.

This law also expands "crimes" to include "speech" interpreted as "threats, intimidation and coercion." As long as a "victim" claims the speech makes them "feel" "intimidated," violators will be liable to penalties of $10,000-$25,000 and a year in jail.

"[And] any person who says they are 'fearful' because someone has said homosexuality is wrong could have the speaker arrested and jailed," according to James Hartline, California pro-family activist.

This will be used to criminalize expressions of biblical truth about homosexuality as "hate speech" and could very well target not just organizations who disagree with homosexuality, but Christian bookstores that carry books like "The Criminalization of Christianity" or another book already ruled to contain "intimidating" beliefs: the Bible.

I agree with James Hartline who was quoted saying: "This is the worst bill ever put before the California Legislature – and that's saying a lot."

And now it's about to go federal: the "hate crimes" bill in Congress will pave the way for the very same thing. If you are for "hate crimes" legislation, you are also for the persecution of Christians. It's a package deal. There is no longer any doubt; that's exactly where it leads. Just ask Arlene Elshinnawy and Lynda Beckman.

If we are to stop this freight train aimed at our freedom from passing in Congress, we must work together and speak in a unified voice. Faith2Action and the Christian Interactive Network have reserved the website: www.StopHateCrimesNow.com that features Arlene and Lynda's stories in two 30-second television ads that you can help air. One hundred percent of donations will go toward airtime. With your help, we will place these commercials on cable news like Fox, CNN and MSNBC and earn additional media elsewhere. And if your organization is willing to link to www.StopHateCrimesNow.com , you will keep all your names and all new names generated. But most importantly, by sounding the alarm together, we have a chance of stopping it.

If the "hate crimes" bill or ENDA is passed by Congress, we are ready for Phase 2: sending veto pens to the president with individualized messages urging a veto.

One thing's for sure, if you value your freedom, you need to use it now. Yes, you have the right to remain silent, but if you use it very much longer, those are precisely the words you, your pastor, business owner or grandmother will hear before seeing the inside of a prison cell.

"Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body." (Hebrews 13:3)

"Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you." (Matthew 5:10-12)

Germany Violates Feedom of Religion of Families

This is an info email by the American Homeschooling Legal Defense Association. It addresses the totalitarian practices the German state has resorted to in order to prevent families from having control over their children's education. There are instructions below on how you may object to the brutal tactics of the German authorities against the freedoms of these homeschooling families, many of whom are Christians.

HSLDA--German Homeschooled Child Sentenced to a Child Psychiatry Unit

Dear HSLDA Members and Friends:

The situation for homeschoolers in Germany is getting worse each week. Just last Thursday, a 17-year-old homeschooled girl was forcibly removed from her parent's custody by over 15 police officers. The homeschooled girl has been placed in the child psychiatry unit of the Nuremberg clinic.

Homeschooling is not legal in Germany. There are over 40 cases currently in court or being appealed. Christian families are fleeing Germany for safety in nearby countries. The unconscionable treatment of sincere and faithful Christian homeschool families is a sad legacy from Germany's past. Homeschooling was first banned under Adolf Hitler, and that ban is still enforced today.

Many families who have had their children forcibly taken from their home each day and taken to government school have since fled Germany, but there are still some homeschoolers. The latest incident involves 17-year-old Melissa Busekros, the girl sent to the Nuremberg psychiatry unit. What is being done to this sensitive girl--just to set an example of enforcing the compulsory schooling at all costs--is reprehensible and causing trauma to unassuming and lovable Melissa.

In the summer of 2005, when Melissa was 15, she was told she would have to repeat the seventh grade at the government school because she was failing math and Latin. She had good grades in the rest of her classes, so her parents tutored her at home for those two subjects. When the school officials found out they were angry and then expelled Melissa, so the family began to homeschool full time.

However, the Youth Welfare office then took the family to court because they were homeschooling. Then, on Tuesday, January 30, 2007, social workers and police officers came to the Busekros home and forcibly took Melissa to the child psychiatric unit where she was questioned for four hours before she was returned home. Then two days later, 15 police officers and social workers came to the Busekros home and took Melissa away from her parents by force and placed her in the child psychiatric unit.

According to Melissa's father, Hubert Busekros, this treatment was justified by the psychiatrist's finding two days previously that Melissa was supposedly developmentally delayed by one year and that she suffered from school phobia.

Nevertheless, one organization concerned with education expressed outrage at the treatment of Melissa Busekros.

"The Netzwerk Bildungsfreiheit [the Network for Freedom of Education] condemns this inconsiderate and totally incommensurate behavior on the part of the officials involved and demands that they give Melissa her freedom and return her to her family immediately," the group was quoted in an article on its website. To view the site, as well as more information and a photograph of the Busekros family, go to
http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=3697 .

ACTION

We ask you to take a moment and do two things: First, call or email the German Embassy and give them this message:

"We are shocked to hear of the Busekros' homeschooled daughter Melissa being removed from the custody of her parents and being placed in a child psychiatric unit. This is an outrage that hearkens back to the Nazi era. We cannot believe a free nation would put a homeschooled child in a psychiatric ward for 'school phobia.' The attack on the homeschool families throughout Germany must stop."

The German Embassy can be contacted at:

Dr. Klaus Scharioth
Ambassador
German Embassy

(202) 298-4000

The embassy can be emailed from its website:
http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=3696 .

Second, pray for the German situation. Only God can change the situation for homeschoolers in Germany. Attempts by German homeschoolers to organize or to change the laws through court continue to be lost, but with God all things are possible. We ask that you cry out for the German homeschool families.

BACKGROUND

German parents have been fighting for the right to homeschool for the last seven or more years. However, all efforts have failed in the face of the stubborn German government and their official response that they cannot "allow a counterculture to exist."

We believe the hope for Germany will be via the international pressure bearing down so that they abandon their witch-hunt after homeschoolers and their terrible treatment of these innocent families.

Homeschoolers remaining in Germany are hoping to legalize homeschooling in one state and thereby make a safe-haven for homeschoolers. However, the German homeschoolers are so few and the attacks so intense that it is hard to make any progress in this area.

If you wish to assist the Germans in their struggle for homeschool freedom, or with many other struggling countries, you can donate to HSLDA's international fund via the Home School Foundation at
http://www.homeschoolfoundation.org/ .

Your donation will be used to meet the homeschooling needs in Germany. After meeting the known homeschooling needs in this country, if there are remaining funds, this money will be transferred to the
Foundation's International Fund to meet homeschooling needs in other countries.

Thank you for standing with these families and taking a moment to assist them.

Sincerely,

Christopher J. Klicka

Darrell Scott, the Father of Rachel Scott, a Victim of the Columbine High School Shootings

In 1997, in Columbine High School in Colorado, two teens, dressed in black and heavily armed, went on a killing rampage against their schoolmates and teachers.

Go to this link and scroll down to the speech of Mr. Scott, which is at the very essence of what freedom of religion is about:
http://www.ourchurch.com/member/p/propheticUSA/
The speech was given at the House Judiciary Committee's subcommittee.

Here are some alternative links to this old story (1999) which at the time media is claimed to have tried to suppress:
http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/outrage/scott.htm
http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/d/darrellscott.htm

What you will see in this speech is freedom of religion born of the freedom to believe in God. And this, it has to be clarified in religiously pluralistic world, is the Christian God, it is Jesus Christ, not just any god.

The Bible has a lot to say about freedom. One of the definitions of freedom is: to be able to discern right from wrong and to choose to do right.

Such freedom many are denied because they are denied the right to believe in God. The two teenage murderers at Columbine High School were among those denied that right. So they chose evil.

Anti-Christian Persecution Worldwide and "Hate Crimes" in the U.S.

Christians are persecuted all over the world. This article states that over 250,000,000 Christians will be subject to some form of persecution because of their belief in Jesus Christ in 2007.

The author also notes that new legislation in the US, under the guise of protecting the public from "hate crimes," may well incriminate thought and religious expression. Politicall correctness in America had become the forerunner of the tyranny of the imposed "tolerance."
http://www.crosswalk.com/news/religiontoday/1464018.html

Our right to belive in God, as Christians, means nothing unless we have the right to say to the rest of the world, who doesn't, what God said in his Book, the Bible. Freedom of speech comes from the freedom to believe.

Egypt Persecutes People Dissenting from Islam

Egyptian government denies the right to freedom of conscience, religion and speech. The authorities have arrested and are prosecuting a blogger who dared to criticize Islam in his posting.

View the article here.

This case adds to the evidence that a government that embraces a religion ends up being an oppressive government. Especially if the values of the ideology the government adopts are oppressive and intolerant of the fundamental human right to hold an opinion, even if wrong.

Islam, the Koran, and Terrorism

This is the title of a web article I've placed a link to here:
http://persecutedchurch.com/Book/Islam_Quran_Terrorism.html

The link will take you to a web page which contains an excerpt from a book by a Christian who has studied the true meaning behind the religion of Islam.

Freedom of thought, religion and speech are possible only where there is a respect for the human being based on the belief that we are made in the image of God. That concept involves the idea of man's free will and that love is true when chosen, not when imposed by force or manipulation. Not Islam's concept. Here is a quote from the article: "The word Islam means 'submission'; the word Muslim means 'one who submits to Allah.' The Quran says you cannot be a true Muslim unless you submit."

This is not the submission out of love and free will. It is a submission taken to the point of extreme: if not by will, then by force; we know what is best for you. More quotes from the article:

There are many verses in the Quran that speak of love, peace and forgiveness, but those verses are cancelled out by the latter verses. 'Fight and slay the Pagans wherever you find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practice regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.' SURAH 9:5

'Those who reject Islam must be killed. If they turn back (from Islam), take (hold of) them and kill them wherever you find them….' SURAH 4:89

More details in the article as linked above.

A Welcome Message

This site has some links, news, and comments regarding freedom of conscience, freedom of religion and freedom of speech. These are all inter-related. My concern is especially with the violation of Christian freedom to speak about the collapsed morality of this world and its inability to uphold what is right, true, honorable and godly. This is not an evangelistic site per se, I do not discuss the ultimate goal of one's life - to find salvation and relationship with God in Jesus Christ. It is rather a place to get a perspective on the clash of religious views, and civilizational values in today's world. The Bible is clear in its teaching that followers of Christ will be persecuted for his name's sake (Matthew 5, Jonn 15, 1 Timothy 2), and I am not trying to change that. However, it is worthwile pointing it out, so that people who love the truth can find out more about it, and make up their own minds.

A word on "anonymous" web sites: some withhold their names for safety, some for not wanting to be responsible for their postings, others for not wanting attention drawn to their personality and wanting to avoid the vanity of attention. It's up to you to make your call why my profile in this blog is stripped down to the bare minimum.
